DECK

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 13, 2026

The short version: DECK has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. It doesn't sell or share your personal information, and it never has. The little it handles is only there to make the app work.

This policy explains what the DECK app and website (deckcardclub.com) handle, why, and the choices and rights you have. "DECK," "we" and "us" mean the developer of DECK, shown as the seller on DECK's App Store page, who is responsible for your information (the "controller" under European law). You can reach us at email address appears here.

What stays on your device

Your settings, your name and the names you type for players and friends, your recent games, your own games and house rules, the last room you joined, your Highlights invite code, which games you've shared or reported, and whether you've seen the welcome are saved only on your phone or in your browser's storage. We can't see them. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser's data for the website, removes them from your device. DECK doesn't use cookies.

This storage is only used to make DECK work, never to track you.

DECK also creates a random ID on your device. It isn't connected to your phone number, your Apple Account or any other account. It's only used so a live room can tell phones apart and recognize yours if it reconnects. In a live room, it's sent along with any name you enter there, and nothing is kept after the messages are delivered.

Live rooms (playing with friends' phones)

When you host or join a live room, the phones in that room pass a few things to each other through our real-time service provider: the room code, the names people choose to enter, votes, which group each person is in, the games being considered, the chosen game with its setup and any house rules (including a game the host wrote, if they pick one), whether each phone is using the app or the website, and the random device ID. These messages are relayed live between the phones in the room and aren't saved by DECK once they've been delivered. Anyone with the room code can join and see the names entered in it, so only share the code with people you're playing with, and only enter a name you're happy for them to see.

Highlights (games people share, in the app)

If you choose to share a game you wrote, we receive the game, the optional story you add, an invite code if you used one, and the time it was sent, so we can review it and possibly feature it. Shared games are anonymous: no name, contact details or device ID are attached. Please don't put personal information in a game or story. If you report a highlighted game, we receive which game it was, the reason you picked and the time.

A featured game can be seen by everyone who uses the DECK app. Games waiting for review and featured games are kept until we remove them or you ask us to delete them. Declined games and games taken off Highlights are deleted automatically 90 days later, and reports are deleted 90 days after they're sent.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply, help and follow up. We keep emails only as long as they're useful for that, and we'll delete yours if you ask.

Links to other websites

Some games link to outside sources about their history, such as Wikipedia or museum websites. If you open one, that website's own privacy policy applies.

Why we use this information (legal bases)

You don't have to give us anything

Giving DECK personal information is never required, by law or to use the app. Entering names, joining live rooms and sharing games are all optional. If you skip them, you can still use everything else.

What we don't do

Service providers

DECK uses a small number of providers to run: Supabase (live rooms and Highlights), Cloudflare (the website) and Apple (email). They process information only on our behalf, to provide their service, and are bound by their agreements with us to protect it at least as well as this policy does. Like most online services, they may briefly keep technical logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver the service and keep it secure. They don't receive anything from DECK beyond what's described here.

Apple also runs the App Store, and handles your downloads and anything you do there under its own privacy policy. If you've chosen in your iPhone's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us crash reports and app statistics. Apple shares these in a form that doesn't identify you.

International transfers

DECK is run from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. When information from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland is transferred, we rely on our providers' safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

Email email address appears here with your request. Because shared games are anonymous, describe the game (its name and roughly when you shared it) so we can find it. We'll reply within 30 days, or sooner where the law requires, and we won't charge you or treat you differently for asking.

If you're in Europe, the UK or Switzerland: you also have the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to help first.

If you're in California: in the last 12 months, DECK has handled these categories of personal information, only as described above: identifiers (the random device ID, and IP addresses in providers' logs), names you choose to enter in live rooms, and content you choose to share or send us. We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use or disclose sensitive personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of; we also respect Global Privacy Control and "Do Not Track" signals by default. You have the rights to know, delete and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for using them. You can use an authorized agent, and we may ask for reasonable details to verify a request.

Security

Information sent between DECK and our providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No service can promise perfect security, but we keep what we handle to a minimum, so there's very little to protect.

Children

DECK is a general-audience card game guide intended for people 13 and older, and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 in places where that's the required age. If you're under that age, don't share games to Highlights without a parent's permission. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices

You can use DECK without joining live rooms or sharing games. Then nothing you enter leaves your device, and our providers only see the technical details any website or app needs to load, such as an IP address.

If DECK changes hands

If DECK is ever sold or transferred, the information described here may be transferred with it, and this policy will continue to protect it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it in the app or on our website.
